Minerva Engineering Contributes to a Successful Completion of the SBIRS-Low System Design Review
Phoenix, Arizona - May 1, 2001
Minerva Engineering is pleased to announce that it played a significant role in the successful completion of the Space-Based InfraRed - Low (SBIRS-Low) System Design Review (SDR). This major programmatic milestone marks the half-way point in the 38 month SBIRS-Low program and a major step forward in the design of the system.
Minerva Engineering is teamed with Spectrum Astro (Gilbert, AZ) on this key National Missile Defense (NMD) program. "We're are very pleased to be able to play a key role for Spectrum Astro on the SBIRS-Low program" remarked Robert La Bella, the Minerva Engineering SBIRS-Low program manager.
Minerva Engineering's role leading the requirements engineering effort helped to solidify a set of products that clearly demonstrated the program's ability to implement a top-down systems engineering effort while ensuring that all the parallel design activities were accommodated. Similarly, Minerva's Operations Engineers received many laudatory comments related to transition plan development and interface evolution concepts. In the area of Network Engineering, Minerva's pioneering efforts aimed at brining network enterprise solutions to space systems was extremely well received in large part due to a series of excellent briefings prepared by several of our staff engineers.
"The staff Minerva has working the SBIRS-Low program are some of the most talented individuals in the government space system business", commented Mr. La Bella. "These staff members bring experience and perspective from many other space programs, but they also have experiences outside the space industry that help them think out of the box - affording us opportunities to help our customers in unique and innovative ways."
The next major milestone for the SBIRS-Low program is the Preliminary Design Review to be held during the second quarter of 2002.
