Minerva Engineering's Tactical Systems division has experience in numerous elements
of tactical HMMWV shelter systems. The TS division will modify or re-engineer the
shelter system to accommodate new components and/or rack configurations. Our engineers
have extensive DOD vehicle integration experience to include fielded tactical hardware
in operation today in OIF/OEF.

Tactical Terminal Control System (TTCS)
|
System Description:
The Army Tactical Terminal Control System (TTCS, AN/TSQ-198) performs air traffic
control services at forward locations in the combat theater. The TTCS is a mobile
communication system. It provides air traffic services at remote landing, drop,
and pickup zones. TTCS equipped units will provide air traffic services for aviation
assets conducting reconnaissance, maneuver, medical evacuation, logistics, and intelligence
operations. The current configuration of the TTCS consists of a M998 High Mobility
Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle, Cargo/Troop Carrier (HMMWV) containing an AN/GRC-206(V)4
Radio Communication System (Radio System), and a M1101 High Mobility Trailer.

The HMMWV contains the Radio System, a Satellite Signals Navigation Set (Global
Positioning System (GPS) Rcvr), the Meteorological Measuring System (MMS), and a
Signal Data Converter. It also contains the HF Whip Antenna, HF Antenna Base, the
HF Antenna Coupler, the HF PA Coupler, the VHF-FM antenna, VHF/UHF-AM antenna, and
the Remote GPS Antenna. The 1 km (3281 ft) Tactical Fiber Optical Cable Assembly
(TFOCA) and a Signal Light Kit are also stored on the HMMWV. The Radio System contains
one VHF-FM SINCGARS radio set with two RT's, one HF-SSB, one AN/ARC-220(V)1 HF radio
set, one SATCOM radio and two VHF/UHF-AM radio sets. The two VHF/UHF-AM radio sets
have UHF HAVE QUICK II capability and receive Time-of-Day signals from the GPS Rcvr.
The VHF/UHF-AM radios can be used to synchronize the clocks in other HAVE QUICK
radios for frequency hopping. The two VHF/UHF-AM radio sets and the SATCOM radio
all have embedded COMSEC. One TSEC/KY-99 Speech Security device and one TSEC/KY-100
Audio-Data Security device provide COMSEC for use with the AN/PRC-138 Harris HF
and AN/ARC-220 Rockwell HF respectively.
The Radio System, with the exception of the VHF-FM radio set and the AN/ARC-220
ALE, can be controlled and operated using either of the two Radio Set Controls (RSC)
provided. The SINCGARS VHF-FM radio set and the AN/ARC-220 ALE can be operated from
either of the two RSCs, but can only be controlled from the individual RT. Four
handsets are provided for voice communications. CAT5 enables remote operation of
the TTCS up to 50M from the vehicle. TFOCA II enables remote operation of the TTCS
up to 1000M from the vehicle. Cables necessary to interconnect the radios and ancillary
equipment are also provided.
The trailer contains a 5 kilowatt 240 Vac diesel generator (Generator Set), two
Antenna Elevator Groups, three Accessory Kits, a Remote HF Antenna Accessory Kit,
a VHF/UHF-AM Antenna Radial Kit, and a HF Near Vertical Incident Skywave (HF NVIS)
antenna.
